Therapy Services

Many victims of sexual assault or abuse find that they can benefit from longer therapy. We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy. Many times, friends and family members can also benefit from therapy. We offer the following types of therapy:

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Helps people recover from a traumatic event by helping the brain organize memories that are traumatic in a way that they can be in the past and not overwhelm people in the present. This can be used to help both children and adults.

    Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

A type of talk therapy in which people accept who they are and their behaviors while learning new, more effective coping skills. This type of therapy involves both individual and group therapy. It can be used with adolescents and adults.

      Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

A type of talk therapy in which people learn how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and learn to process their trauma in a way that their thoughts are changed about it and therefore their emotions and behaviors are also changed.

        Progressive Counting (PC)

A type of therapy in which clients are asked to imagine a movie of a traumatic event while the therapist counts aloud at different intervals. As the memory becomes less distressing, the movies shorten. This process is repeated until the memory creates minimal or no distress. This can be used with children and adults.

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT)

A type of talk therapy used to teach clients coping skills to be able to talk about distorted and upsetting beliefs about a traumatic event in order to be able to think about it without causing significant distress. It is used with children and adolescents.

            Traumaplay

A type of play therapy used specifically to treat children who have experienced traumas related to caregivers and attachment to them.
