Green Dot for High Schools
A violence prevention strategy that helps prevent violence and shift culture.
A Comprehensive Violence Prevention Strategy
Green Dot sees every student in high schools as someone that can recognize potentially harmful situations and safely engage in ways to prevent violence.
Green Dot
Engage in ways to prevent violence
Through group and individual activities, team competitions, workbook activities, group discussions, and game playing, students are equipped to recognize high-risk situations, taught to identify realistic actions they could take and empowered with behaviors they can do to set non-violent norms inside their school.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funded a five-year study to evaluate Green Dot in high schools across Kentucky. The study examined bystander intervention in 26 high schools over five years and confirms that Green Dot for High Schools reduces rates of sexual abuse, dating violence, stalking and other interpersonal violence by up to 50 percent. The study results were published in 2017 in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
We are currently implementing the Green Dot Program in five local high schools.
